The Don't We Boys
The Don't We Boys is a sketch comedy super-group dedicated to solving the mysteries of comedy and putting the adventure back into sketches. Expect a rough and tumble hour and a half of perilous comedy by danger veterans Joe "Foot-in-the-Grave" Anderson, Dave "Bloody Mess" Lyzenga, and Matt "Safety First" Sterenberg. But wait! There's more! Sometimes the Don't We Boys grow up long enough to do sketches about boring adult things like: “going to work,” “paying bills,” and, “regretting having children.” Even these patently boring topics become heroic feats of comedy thanks to the (6) keen eyes and (3) silver tongues of The Don’t We Boys.
This show has something for everyone... literally! But mostly it’s for people who like dangerous sketch comedy. You’ll enter asking, “Why?” and leave screaming, “Don’t we boys!?"
Check out the show, if you dare, August 6 and 7 at 9:00pm.
The Don't We Boys features Dave Lyzenga, Matt Sterenberg and Joe Anderson.
Dave Lyzenga performs or has performed with River City Improv, Pop Scholars, Calvin Improv and the Comedy Mondays group at Dog Story Theater.
Matt Sterenberg performs or has performed with Pop Scholars, Calvin Improv and the Comedy Mondays group at Dog Story.
Joe Anderson performs or has performed with The Second City, Fishladder and the Comedy Mondays group at Dog Story Theater.

Henry V
Pigeon Creek Shakespeare Company to Present Summer Season in Grand Rapids
The Pigeon Creek Shakespeare Company, Michigan’s only year-round, touring Shakespeare company, will present its summer productions of Henry V at the Dog Story Theater in Grand Rapids as part of the company’s summer tour of Michigan venues. Henry V will play at the Dog Story Theater, 1115 Taylor NW in Grand Rapids August 12-15.
Henry V is an action packed history, which follows the famous English king on his conquest of France. Henry becomes a great leader as he must inspire his people to overcome overwhelming odds to win the battle of Agincourt. Shakespeare balances the action and intrigue of the play’s historical events with the humorous and quirky characters who populate Henry’s army, and with the love story of Henry and the witty French princess. Actor Michael Empson stars as Henry V.
The company’s summer tour will also take the production to the Beardsley Theater in Muskegon, C3 Exchange in Spring Lake, the Red Barn Theater in Saugatuck, and Creative 360 in Midland.
Tickets to all Pigeon Creek performances at the Dog Story Theater are $12 for adults, $6 for students and seniors. Tickets are available below. For further information about the Pigeon Creek Shakespeare Company, visit http://www.pcshakespeare.com. PHOTO BY Tim Motley Motley Cat Studios

Pop Scholars
Pop Scholars is a brand-new comedy troupe born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan, with a heavy dose of Chicagoan style. Already well versed in standard short-form improv (a la Who's Line is it Anyway?), Pop Scholars separates itself from the pack by branching out into the world of long-form improv, a lengthier set of scenes centered around a suggested theme. While improvised comedy comprises the majority of a Pop Scholars show, there are occasional forays into pre-written sketch comedy and even musical pieces.
As a primarily improvised show, a Pop Scholars performance requires audience suggestions to initiate each game. Audience members should come ready to be inspired in the moment to shout out their own suggestions, and might even be asked to volunteer to assist with games on stage. Most importantly, come prepared to enjoy a fresh and different comedy experience in Grand Rapids.
