Pop Scholars is a brand-new comedy troupe born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan, with a heavy dose of Chicagoan style. Already well versed in standard short-form improv (a la Who's Line is it Anyway?), Pop Scholars separates itself from the pack by branching out into the world of long-form improv, a lengthier set of scenes centered around a suggested theme. While improvised comedy comprises the majority of a Pop Scholars show, there are occasional forays into pre-written sketch comedy and even musical pieces.

As a primarily improvised show, a Pop Scholars performance requires audience suggestions to initiate each game. Audience members should come ready to be inspired in the moment to shout out their own suggestions, and might even be asked to volunteer to assist with games on stage. Most importantly, come prepared to enjoy a fresh and different comedy experience in Grand Rapids.

Pop Scholars will be our first show at our new space at 7 Jefferson, right around the corner from The One Trick Pony (on the side by the old Bobby J.'s).  We have two storefronts at our space (7&9) but we think "7 Jefferson" has a nice ring to it!
